OUR STORY

The mission of We Make Noise is to harness the power of music and technology to advance global gender equity, equipping our communities with tools that cultivate limitless potential.

We Make Noise focuses our collective impact on cause issues that create barriers to women and underrepresented communities in the music industry, and in any field where they are left on the margins. We blend music creation, technology training, community building, and workforce development to instill the mindset and abilities needed for success in the music industry and beyond.

WMN is poised for exponential growth in 2025,

and we’d like to infuse this next year with the support the global nonprofit needs to succeed.

WE MAKE NOISE SESSIONS:

We Make Noise Sessions are breaking down inequitable music industry systems, giving our community members direct access to opportunities to write and produce for today's biggest and up-and-coming artists. Over 50 writers and producers already have writing and production credits on material created at the We Make Noise Sessions for artists such as Kimbra, Agnez Mo, and Madame Gandhi. These credits not only have the power to change the trajectory of someone's careers, but they also help to move the needle on the dismal statistics of non-male writers and producers represented in the field.

In 2025 WMN is programming 4-5 Sessions, with the intention of expanding to international locations and different types of communities. Each We Make Noise Session is a massive undertaking which requires resources and support from our global community and partners. You can support a camp by helping to cover the costs of scholarships, travel and lodging for participants, location costs, and the people power required to create these transformational opportunities.

WE MAKE NOISE HUB EXPANSION:

Over the past 11 years we have worked hand in hand with local leaders to bring We Make Noise programming in-person to local communities, in over 55 cities, across 6 continents. Every community is different, but our approach is always the same: providing an education, building community, and creating professional opportunities for girls, women, gender-expansive people and our allies.

In order to reach people regardless of location, this year we launched the We Make Noise HUB. The HUB is a platform and community that centralizes WMN programming online, making it accessible to people anywhere in the world.

As a global organization we tackle big projects and take on major initiatives that accelerate the growth of our global community.

In 2024 alone:

[We Make Noise Fest in Boston - August '24]

The We Make Noise HUB provides services and programming which are designed to support creative and professional growth across sectors of the music and music tech industries. The HUB supports our entire global community, regardless of location.

The HUB supports our community through:

  • Educational offerings which give them the skills they need to work and be competitive in the field. In the past 4 months since our launch, we have programmed over 20 educational workshops and courses covering topics such as songwriting, music production, sound design, music synthesis, digital media content creation and strategy, playback engineering, live performance, and fundraising.

  • Access to expand their industry network and community support systems, which we know is paramount to success. In addition to direct access to all the other people on the HUB, we connect HUB members directly with industry professionals and brand leaders across pro audio and artist / creator services e.g. Focusrite, Beatport, Ableton, FL Studio, Roland, BandLab, Splice and more - plus, discounts or free licenses on their products and services.

  • Opportunities to work professionally, be visible in the sector, and open doors for them - which ultimately lead to the next open door. Examples of this work in action are: the opportunity to create for our Splice label, applications to attend one of our We Make Noise Sessions, and professional certification offerings.

WE MAKE NOISE CHAPTER EXPANSION:

Since We Make Noise was formed in 2013, our chapter network has expanded to have a significant international footprint

...and we now have 30 local chapters operating in over 55 cities across Europe, North America, Central America, South America, Africa and Oceania. Our Chapter Development team is led by a group of passionate and dedicated people who help local leaders in each region bring We Make Noise programming directly to their community. We Make Noise works closely with each of our chapters, supporting them from the very inception of a chapter all the way through to sustained and lasting regional impact. Collectively, our chapters serve an average of 2,500 individuals per year through direct educational programming, and over 17,000 per year when you include the music festivals our chapters host all around the world.

You can support our Chapter Development team by sponsoring a Chapter Leaders Connect workshop or course for our chapter leaders, fund the development of educational resources and tools for our global community, help us cover the cost of shipping hardware around the world,

supporting all the people-power required to provide support services to all of our communities, or directly invest in a local chapter.

  • WMN hosted three in person songwriting and production camps (“WMN Sessions”), in Phoenix, AZ, Boston, MA, and Fort Collins, CO. [and New York City, NY.] Those camps resulted in over 50 people receiving credits on recordings being released by both major and up-and-coming artists.

  • Produced two large scale music festivals: one in Boston, MA and one in Istanbul, Turkey which 5,000 people attended and featured over 15 artists.

  • Launched Splice’s first ever non-profit label, releasing 6 complete packs, hiring 10 individuals from our global community..

  • Launched the We Make Noise HUB which has:

    • Hosted over 20 online workshops and courses in collaboration with our global industry partners, connecting our community with our greater network.

    • Hosted the first ever Roland Cloud certification event on the Hub, certifying 16 people from our community.

In 2025, our goal is to onboard an additional 1,000 people onto the HUB, expanding the reach and impact we know we can have on the platform. You can support the HUB by helping to cover the costs of HUB memberships for people who otherwise couldn’t afford it, sponsoring an educational workshop or mini-course, and supporting the people power it requires to build and deliver programming at this level to a mass audience.
